It is only fitting that a representative of Bobby's Room, the high stakes area of Bellagio noted for its big buy-in mixed games, is here in the 8-Game field.
It is not Doyle Brunson, granted, but plenty of people in the field are familiar with floorman John Hardin, who flew in this morning with his wife, Jen, for a weekend in Reno. With the lure of a family friend who works in the poker room and a bunch of fun events, it seemed like the perfect place for a vacation.
Hardin says he always takes this weekend off to kick back and enjoy watching The Masters golf tournament, but this is his first time playing a Run It Up event.
Early in the day, he couldn't help but lapse back into job mode, helping a dealer with a Stud hand to avoid an error.
He and Eric Goldstein shared a laugh about playing mixed games in casinos and how it is important for players to be patient and not get too riled up if dealers, who do not often deal these games, need a little extra time or have a few hiccups.
"The first game of Badugi I ever played in a casino, the flop came Q-4-2," Hardin shared with a smile.
John is still kicking with 54 players left, while Jen was spotted down in the cash games not long after busting.
