Team Patrick Preston & Chris Lindner were crowned champions in the #125 NLH Partner Event after besting a field of 97 teams to win the first-place prize of $2,580 in addition to one trophy each. Preston won the Main Event seat, as well, for being the Last RIU Warrior standing. The teammates play poker together in Austin, Texas and happened to run into each other at the Run It Up Reno series.

The runners up in this event were the team of Mo Baterdene & Andrew Cha. Their team won this same event last October and were hoping to defend their title. They finished just shy of the trophy but took home $1,700 for their efforts and were surrounded by a massive rail during heads-up play, curious to see if they could make it a second time.

Patrick Preston entered heads-up play with a massive chip lead. Unfortunately, the tables turned quickly when Mo Baterdene started winning flip, after flip, to take the chip lead.

At some point, Preston got down to his last big blind and had one ante left behind. Baterdene, in the small blind, proceeded to fold his hand, a play that might have cost him the tournament. Preston showed [9s][2d] commenting: ''I had one ante left!''

Preston was still left with very few chips and it was his turn to win flips in order to run his stack back up, which he managed to do perfectly.

Their chip counts eventually got very close, and Baterdene proposed a deal which involved his team taking the trophies, but Preston's partner, Chris Lindner, refused, claiming: ''At this point, the trophy is literally the only thing I care about.''

A deal was not reached and play continued for a while before Baterdene shoved from the small blind with [Kh][4s]. Having him barely covered, Preston snap-called with [kd][qd], turning a flush to eliminate last October's winning team.

Here is a look at the final table results:

1st place: Patrick Preston- $2,580
2nd place: Mo Baterdene - $1,700
3rd place: Batuhan Zadeh- $1,160
4th place: Alex Huot- $805

6th place: William Butcher- $440
7th place: Nathan Manuel- $350
8th place: Thomas Gardner- $290
9th place: Michael Cooper- $250

When asked how it felt to get the win, Preston responded: ''I sucked out on people so many times. I won a tournament a few weeks ago, and the amount of times you have to suck out on people to win a tournament is insane!''

His partner, Chris Lindner, was extremely satisfied as well: ''I am so excited. It is my fourth Run It up Reno. I made a lot of final tables and I've been trying to get the gold. I'm also very happy for him. This is his first Run It up Reno and this will be an ultimate Run It Up Reno experience for him!''

Lindner was also asked why Preston played the most at the end, to which he commented: ''We came in short and he know the short stack stuff, I know the crazy life stuff.''

Pete Mall Takes Down the Thursday Thrilla for His First Gold Trophy!

Pete Mall_RunItUp2017_Abrego__AA09970.jpg

After 12 hours and a tough final table, Pete Mall is victorious in the Thursday Thrilla for $17,655 and many big bounties! He defeated a tough opponent in Tyson Apostol after coming back from being down more than 4-to-1 in chips at the start of heads-up play.

The turning point for Mall was when he got his stack in the middle with [jd9d], up against Apostol's [8d7d]. Apostol out-flopped him after pairing his seven but the river brought a big jack to bring him to almost even in chips. Mall chipped away and eventually check-called a shove from Apostol with two pair nines and sevens and held against his two over-cards. Apostol earned himself $11,555 and a fistful of bounties for his runner-up finish.

Jeff Gross bowed out in 3rd for $7,735 and likely the most bounties in the tournament with nine!

Mall won his first ever live recorded tournament and also booked his biggest cash with this win. It's his first taste of RIU gold, and if his dedication to the series and the game is any indication, it surely won't be the last!

The tournament began with just over 50 entries but grew rapidly to 110 by the close of registration after Level 10. The guarantee was set at $50,000 but ended up hitting $55,000 in the main prize pool plus $55,000 in bounties at $500 a piece for $110,000 total. April's total number of entries reached 90, but as many of the tournaments have ended up, the Thrilla broke that record with 110, which is a promising look to the future of the series!

Many tough players entered the field, including the likes of Jason Somerville, Randy 'nanonoko' Lew, Vincent Newland, Patrick Tardif, Nick Chinell, Jimmy Cappucci, Jordan Spurlin, Alex Lavinthal, Fatima Nanji, Brett Gordon, Albert Ng and David Lander.

The Main Event starts tomorrow, so keep following along as we continue to highlight this massive Run It Up Reno series!
