6-Max: A Bad, Bad, Bad Call?

Dylan Webb during the RIU Main Event

Dylan Webb during the RIU Main Event

Hey, It's me again. I was tempted to try and continue this post like the Adele song "Hello." I decided it would be too hard. I have 8,000 or so at the first break of the day with 29 players left. I had 18,000 or so going into the final hand before the break.

The blinds were 300/600 with a 75 ante. Dylan Webb had shoved all in three of the last ten or so hands. The first time he shoved he had about 12 big blinds, or 8,200. On this hand, I opened to 1,200 with [astc] from the cutoff. Dylan shoved all in for 9,775, about 16 big blinds.

I don't play Holdem, or at least I don't play Holdem well. I thought the bet was kind of big, but then I convinced myself that he couldn't really three-bet for an amount less than all of his chips. I called and he turned over pocket jacks. He won the hand and I went to the break with 8,000 and roughly 10 big blinds when play resumes.
