Teams Forming for the 5pm Team Event

Team #RIUChewy is a "small dog" to win the Team tournament!

Many of the players at RIU Reno had their teams set for the team No-Limit tournament days ago. A few, like Ice3lade and Deb Swift just decided to join up shortly before the tournament started.

The team event is a $125 buy in No-Limit tournament that starts at 5 pm. Teams can be from 2-4 players. So far here are some of the teams we know about.

  • Team Onesie: Vanessa Kade, Danielle Anderson, Aleeyah Jadavji. While there aren't many tournament results on this team, all of these ladies are cash game regulars. They might not be as intimidating in this tournament as they are in a cash game since each of them is wearing a onesie! Kade and Jadavji are twin rainbow unicorns, while Anderson is rounding out the team as a black cat.
  • Team Merch - Pablo Ortiz (RIUPablo) and Vincent Gregory (Vintroverted) have one trophy to their name and will certainly be sporting the latest in RIU gear. Even though Gregory and Ortiz have had most of their success so far this trip in Mixed games, the pair is no stranger to No-Limit Holdem.
  • Team Fireball Gummybear: Nathan Manuel (JimmiesBoss) and Jimmy Cappucci (Untitled2jc). Cappucci became the first player to win two career RIU trophies earlier this tournament in the All-In Or Fold tournament. Manuel followed shortly after with his first RIU Trophy in the Mix-Max event. While they are certainly formidable at the poker table, the team may have been weakened by a prop bet yesterday that involved a day of eating nothing but Gummy Bears and drinking Fireball shots!
  • Team Chewy: Albert Ng, Melissa Wang, Chewy Wang-Ng. A formidable team with three cashes so far in RIU Reno, Team Chewy certainly has the best mascot. Even though Chewy was crossed off the team list, Team Chewy is letting Chewy play the first orbit... and he won the blinds once thanks to his table taking him for a "walk!" Wang and Ng have had a solid showing so far and should be present a tough task for the other teams.
  • Team Who Knows - Jason Somerville and... unknown! It is a safe bet that the RIU host will be in the field for the event, but as of now it is a mystery who his team mate might be. Kevin Martin and Lee Jones might have been some of the first guesses, but they are already spoken for with Martin and David Villa pairing up. Jones got added as a last minute partner with Faith Klimczak, so Somerville might have to do some searching.
  • Team Batman - Jesse Fullen and Jesse Capps. Both of these players made the Black Chip bounty final table, and Capps captured his first trophy. We will see if the Karaoke celebration afterwards will take its toll on these caped crusaders, but the Hold em skills should be on point. They are both dressed as Batman and have completed the costume with the Christian Bale voice.
  • Team Magic Men - Harry Corvese and Kevin Gerhart. The two Las Vegas locals and Magic: The Gathering aficionados are sure to be a tough tandem. Harry won his first RIU event trophy last night in the HORSE, while Kevin already has multiple final tables.
